MANHATTAN, KS -- Looks like the Kansas State University marching band is boldly going where no one has gone before. During their Star Trek themed halftime show, the band's formation struck outrage from more than Trekies -- and it wasn't for their tunes.

Members of the Kansas State band were marching in the shape of their in-state rival's mascot, the Kansas Jayhawk, but it's a phallic formation that stunned some.

The band director has said he meant for the formation to look like the Starship Enterprise.

Well, you can be the judge, but Kansas State has to pay for their sour notes. They agreed to pay a $5,000 fine to the Big 12 Commission and suspend their band director for one game for breaking the sportsmanship policy.

The band's formations will need to be approved before game time now by the Office of Student Life and Athletic departments.

Guess this is one horn Kansas State isn't proud to toot.
