SAN MARCOS, TX —  “I’m a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world. Life in plastic, it’s fantastic!”

Those classic lyrics could be the theme song for Texas State University student Tara Monroe. She rolls around campus in a bright pink Barbie Jeep.

Nah, she’s not technically crazy.  The 20-year-old’s license was automatically suspended when she refused a breathalyzer after leaving a Waka Flocka concert. Her dad confiscated her car and gave her a bike.

“Riding a bike around campus sucks.  Like really sucks,” she told MySanAntonio.com.

So, she found a Barbie Jeep for sale on Craigslist and bought it for $60 bucks. Now she cruises around campus in her 12-volt battery jeep, boasting speeds of up to 5 mph.

Now, she’s a social media star and loving it.

“This is the best way I could have gotten my 15 minutes of fame,” Monroe told MySanAntonio.com. “Basically, it was the best decision I’ve made in college.”
