Protests as Brandon High bans the band from playing “How Great Thou Art.”

BRANDON, MS — After Brandon High School spent their summer gearing up for their first game, they received some bad news. School administrators banned the band from the halftime show because their performance included the hymn “How Great Thou Art.”

According to a federal court order issued over the summer, the school can’t include any religious sermons or activities at school sponsored events.

The high school had already received a warning and a $7,500 fine for promoting Christianity during school hours.

Check out what happens when it’s halftime and there’s no band on the field:

Students and parents are still protesting the district’s decision to play the hymn at school games.
