DALLAS — It’s an event so big, it’s taking most of the city of Dallas to put it on! Yeah, MegaFest 2015 kicked off at Klyde Warren Park in front of a crowd of thousands, along with some of the top folks in the city.

“We do sporting events, those are a lot of fun. We do business events, but to have a family event is fabulous,” said Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings.

So, what exactly is MegaFest? Well, it’s put on by world-renowned Bishop T.D. Jakes. And the events, which include everything from health and wellness to family values, promise four days of fun, family and faith.

“If we can enhance families, if we can bring families back to core values, if we can stimulate undeserved communities to understand the power education and influence, then MegaFest is a success," Bishop Jakes said.

Well, it’s already a success for the City of Dallas! Thousands from around the world are in town for the event and it’s a chance to show off Big D.

“Dallas has come so far,” said former U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. “Whatever people would want, we have it here and we are a welcoming city! We love to have visitors. We’re a beautiful city, and I think that the Mega Fest attendees are gonna be welcomed everywhere they go and we hope they’ll come back year after year.”

Perhaps Bishop Jakes put it best when opening the massive event, saying simply: “Let’s do this thing!”
