COPPELL, TX -- Most of America may not have even heard of Coppell, Texas. Heck, it might be hard for folks around here to point it out on a map of just the Metroplex. It's a small city about 20 minutes northwest of Dallas proper, right next to DFW airport.
But once you find it, Coppell has plenty to offer. Mayor Karen Hunt told NewsFix, "People move here because of the schools, but then they stay here 'cause it's just a great city."
Well, apparently Money Magazine has heard of Coppell, because when they came up with this year's list of the "50 Best Places to Live in America," Dallas' little neighbor cracked the Top 10 coming it at number 8!
Yeah, Coppell's Main Street Village has a new farmer's market, splash pad for the kiddos, and restaurants, with more on the way, all within walking distance. What's not to love?
It should come as no surprise to Texans that Coppell isn't the "lone" city reppin' the Lone Star State. Hewitt, TX came in at #20 and Wylie at #25.
Last year's list ranked McKinney as #1. This year McKinney is ranked somewhere below the top 50. Ouch.
The lesson? If Coppell wants to celebrate, they probably shouldn't do it with a pool party... just sayin'.
