FT. WORTH, TX — Hate to break it to ya, kids, but it’s just about time to pack up summer and head back to school!
And while that news might be tough for kids to handle, it can be every worse for parents trying to make ends meet. School supplies aren’t cheap!
Well that’s where the Robinson Chirinos Foundation steps in! The Rangers catcher hosted his back to school event out at Refuge Church in Fort Worth, and some of his team mates tagged along to help pass out back packs and sign a few autographs for the young fans!
“Hopefully we can give one thousand backpacks today.” said Chirinos, “They have all the supplies they need to go back to school and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to help the community!”
Pitcher Yovani Gallardo was also on hand to help the folks in the town he calls home!
“I grew up close to this area. It’s awesome that he has an event like this for all the young kids that sometimes need a little extra help.” said Gallardo
Even though they have a huge game against the Rays tonight, that didn’t stop these ballplayers from turning out to give back!
“They took time out of their schedule to help us and to touch the community and we’re really excited about that!” said Carlos Ramos, senior pastor of Refuge Church.
“It shows the respect and the kind of chemistry we have throughout the clubhouse!” added Gallardo.
Well hopefully on the field, that chemistry helps the team punch a ticket back to the playoffs, but at least off the field, that chemistry is helping these kids head back to school packed with supplies.
