FORT WORTH, TX -- Happy Birthday, America!

In North Texas, perhaps there’s no better place to party, than in Fort Worth. Billy Bob’s 4th of July Picnic is a good ole fashioned Texas-sized celebration; a two-step holiday salute with music and food.

Hey, this party is just getting started. “Hayes Carl is one you don’t want to miss," event organizer Chris Spinks said. "Jerry Jeff Walker, legendary; Turnpike Troubadours are going to bring it down about 10 o’clock.”

The annual bash drew a hearty crowd who braved the heat and soaked up more than just the sun.

"I’ve always wanted to come; I live really close but I’ve never been able to come," Kelly Powell said. "So, I decided to come out this year and bring [my friend] along with me because he’s not from Texas.”

For some folks, the picnic is a celebration as traditional as fireworks.

"It’s a great way to celebrate our freedom," Spinks explained. "Especially in Fort Worth, where we celebrate music and food and family and coming together; it’s just a great way to do that.”

There’s still time to scoot your boots on yonder to Cowtown; the music and the fun continues well into the night.

Happy Fourth, y’all.
