Ex-CNN Reporter Kills Intruder in New Mexico Motel Gunfight

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Most journalists try to avoid becoming part of the story. But sometimes, the story comes to you. That’s chuck de caro and lynne russellwhat happened to former CNN reporter Chuck De Caro and his wife, former CNN Headline News anchor Lynne Russell.

They were at an Albuquerque motel Wednesday night. She went out to her car to get something and says a man dragged her back into the motel room at gunpoint.

She managed to get her own gun to her husband who fired at the intruder. The gunman was killed.

De Caro was hit three times in the shootout, but he’s expected to be okay. Cops say he won’t face any charges.

Since leaving CNN, Russell has anchored on Canadian TV and radio and sold real estate in Toronto.

Let’s just be glad this Motel 6 wasn’t the scene of the last sign off for her or her husband.
