WASHINGTON, D.C. — Love it or hate it, Obamacare is still with us. By a 6-3, the US Supreme Court decided that it’s okay for eligible Americans to use federal tax credits to help pay for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

This means the subsidies will remain available for people living in states with federal exchanges.

The Supremes did not agree with the argument that the wording of the act clearly prevented subsidies for people living in the 34 states, like Texas, that did not have their own healthcare marketplaces.

The Supreme Court’s decision affects more than 800,000 low- and middle-income Texans.
