DALLAS - We told you Briley’s sad story almost a year ago. She was likely a victim of a doggie hit and run. And she had a gruesome scar to prove it.

The road to recovery was long and no simple feat for Dallas Pets Alive!

“The foster alone could not change out the bandages. It was a daily thing that we needed to do,” explained Leslie Sans, Executive Director at Dallas Pets Alive! “We needed to have volunteers come in to change out the bandages.”

But the scar healed and eventually Briley met Shaun Russe.

“She was wild and my husband was like ‘No!' I said, 'oh she needs a good home and she was so cute,'" Russe said.

Wonder who won that argument?

“I said, 'I love her' and he said ok,” Russe said with a laugh.

Now Briley’s story has a happy ending and she now she joins her “fur-ever” family on all of their outdoor adventures.

“She does like to go camping and she wants to eat everything she finds: sticks, rocks, acorns,” said Russe.

Briley may still need to take a “chill pill” every now and then. But it sounds like she’s found a perfect place to call home.
