ADDISON, TX - The cards are stacking up on the road to the White House. Hey, we aren't talking about Frank Underwood from House of Cards. A real political powerhouse is running -- former Texas Governor Rick Perry.
"Today I am running for the presidency of the United States of America," Perry announced Thursday at the Addison Airport that he's throwing his hat in the ring... again.
Now, Perry is asking GOP primary voters for a second chance.
"Let's give them a second chance. Let's give them real leadership!"
Perry reintroduced himself as a Republican with military experience that distinguishes him from other GOP hopefuls
During his announcement, Perry was flanked by a list of military veterans, including several Navy SEALs and Taya Kyle, the widow of "American Sniper" Chris Kyle, and Marcus Luttrell, who Perry called a "second son" — a group that allows Perry to highlight his five years in the Air Force.
Perry also peddled campaign promises, starting with what he'll do if elected.
"On my first day in office, I will issue an immediate freeze on pending regulations from the Obama administration," Perry said. "We've been through two World Wars, we've been through a Great Depression, we've even made it through Jimmy Carter. We will make it through the Obama Years."
This isn't Perry's first time at the rodeo.
"A lot of people forget, he had back surgery like six weeks before that debate. And so everybody messes up. He's a human being so no one's going to be perfect," Perry supporter Josey Parks said.
So, the campaign begins and Perry joins at least 10 other republican presidential wannabes. Will Perry make it to the main stage? And if he does, what do we have to look forward to?
Someone cue Britney Spears, "Oops I did it again!"
