It's the end of an era.

We've had 25 glorious years of 'The Simpsons', but it seems like it might be time to write an obit for some characters. Well, A LOT of characters! Voice actor Harry Shearer told the world, via Twitter, he is leaving the show.

Wednesday night, Shearer tweeted quoting James L. Brooks lawyer saying "Harry will not be part of [the show] it,"

He later tweeted "Thanks, Simpsons fans, for your support."

In case you didn't know, Shearer is the voice of 22 characters on 'The Simpsons' including Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner and the list goes on!

In a statement to the New York Times, show runner Al Jean says they don't plan on killing off any of the characters and will recast them with the "finest voice-over talent available."

But hey, let's be honest, things will never be the same in Springfield.
