DALLAS - A single mother of five, this lovely German Shepherd is looking for a family of her own. The street is no place for a single mom, so Sadie checked into the shelter with five puppies in tow.
“It’s really not a good place for the puppies and it can be very difficult for them to survive there,” says Leslie Sans, executive director of Dallas Pets Alive! “She ended up losing two before we could find a foster.”
Now two of the puppies have been adopted, leaving Sadie and one pup looking for a permanent place.
“Everybody wants the puppy and mom is always left behind,” says Sans. “That’s really sad because this mom is absolutely gorgeous.”
Gorgeous and a grown up girl, which means this German Shepherd mix is past those “puppy indiscretions.”
“Sadie is crate-trained, she is house broken,” says Sans. “She would be great with kids, other dogs and she has learned to ignore cats as well.”
But don’t mistake Sadie for an old maid. She’s just two years old.
“She became a mom way too young. She still has that puppy rambunctiousness in her, but she is so very smart,” says Sans.
“She does wonderful tricks. She will do anything for a cheese puff.”
