DALLAS – It’s being called the “sweetheart scam,” but there’s not sweet about what a woman is accused of doing to an elderly man with dementia. Dallas cops say she conned him out of $16,000.
Surveillance video released Friday shows the woman in a jewelry store, smiling and spending a lot of cash.
According to DPD, the elderly man filed a criminal complaint last month. He told cops the man named Lisa tricked him into applying for credit cards.
After racking up a $16,000 bill on all sorts of items, the man says Lisa stopped answering his calls.
If you recognize Lisa or the woman with her in the video, you’re asked to call financial crimes Detective Cervantez at 214-671-3544.
