TROPHY CLUB, TX -- Sunday service at Fellowship United Methodist in Trophy Club just wasn’t the same -- something was missing.
“The really powerful winds last night knocked the steeple down, it fell; it was right next to the building,” Sr. Pastor Edlen Cowley said.
Yeah, mother nature delivered an unexpected blow Saturday night, and it was strong enough to bring down the church steeple.
It didn’t take long for church members to jump in and help move out the mess. "I happen to have a couple of tow straps in my truck, so we were able to hook onto the steeple and I ended up towing it over to the other end,” member Lyle Walden explained.
Hey, the steeple wasn’t the only thing the storm knocked-out. “We didn’t have any power when we left here around midnight last night," Pastor Cowley said. "So, talking with the staff, we came up with option A, option B, option C – we were joking about some of those ideas we had.”
But then there was option D: as in devine intervention – power was restored just in time for morning service.
"Obviously we got a little excitement here," Walden added. "Nobody’s life was lost, there was very little overall damage to the church, a pretty visible piece of the church came down, but it’ll be repaired; and at the end of the day – we’re all just lucky to be here.”
Can we get an amen?
