DALLAS - Before you splurge on this week's paycheck, Uncle Sam wants to know if you've filed your taxes. Believe it or not, nearly half of America is getting off scot-free when it comes to paying the IRS.

Get this, in 2013, more than 40% of American households did not pay income tax. That's because about half earn too little to even qualify. The other half qualified for tax breaks like The Earned Income Tax Credit or the Child Tax Credit.

The Huffington Post says these days, corporate America goes through a number of loopholes just to avoid paying its share.

And we'll never know how many people illegally dodge taxes until the IRS actually goes out to find them.

But for the people who do file your taxes by the due date, you deserve a cookie! No, really. Some restaurants are rewarding taxpayers with freebies and half-off goodies all day!

Ahhhh... guess it pays to be tax-free.
