JOHNSON CITY, TN – This just may be one of the saddest stories you’ll ever hear. Taylor Smith, a 12-year-old from Tennessee, died after a sudden case of pneumonia about a year ago; recently, her parents discovered a heartbreaking letter she wrote back in April of 2013. She addressed it to her future self with instructions not to open it for ten years – April 2023.
Well after they found the letter and read it, her parents shared it with the world.
This is what 12-year-old Taylor wrote to her 22-year-old self:
“How’s life? Life is pretty simple right now (10 years in your past.) Congratulations on graduating high school.”
“Do you have your own place yet? If we’re in college, what are we majoring in?”
She goes on to ask, “How’s your relationship with God? Have you prayed, worshiped, read the bible or gone to serve the Lord recently? If not, get up and do so now!”
“Have you been out of the country yet? How about on a plane?”
Taylor’s last words?
“Remember, it’s been 10 years since I wrote this. Stuff has happened, good and bad. That’s just how life works, and you have to go with it.”
Words to live by at any age. R.I.P. Taylor.
