NEW YORK CITY - Trevor Noah will be the new face of The Daily Show after only three appearances on the program. That's quite a promotion.
So, who exactly is this guy who will replace Jon Stewart in one of the most coveted spots in late night?
Well, for starters, the 31-year-old comedian is from the South African city of Soweto. And since she's the son of a black mother and white father, he says growing up during the Apartheid era was anything but normal.
"My father would have to walk on the other side of the road and he could just wave at me from afar, like a creepy pedophile," Noah joked.
He started performing stand-up in his 20s and knows how to speak six languages.
Oh yeah, and the guy's pretty funny.
"We've got some passengers joining us from a South African flight and due to the Ebola crisis right now, we're just gonna spray the cabin. Shouldn't be too harmful. You can cover your eyes and your nose if you think it will harm you, but it should be ok and we'll be on our way shortly. Thank you very much," Noah set up the punchline. "And we walk on to that, that's our introduction as we're walking onto the plane (laughter)."
So, it looks like we're back where we were 16 years ago, a relatively unknown comic taking the helm of fake news.
Good luck, Trevor! The world will be watching.
