DALLAS, TX — It was a good old fashioned fiesta for Dallas`Seventh Annual Festival De Los Mavs.'
Some die-hard fans got an early start to make sure they scored some of their favorites players' autographs.
“We got up early and got here at 11:30,” one fan said. She was the second person in line.
Fans also got a chance to take in a 'Futsal' match between Mexico and USA. The fast-paced sport is basically basketball meets soccer, and it is - in a word - awesome.
For the Mavs, it`s a way to give back to their huge Hispanic fan base.
“They`re our family, it`s la familia," Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson said. “They`re the fabric of who we are and they`re such an incredible part of not just the Mavs, but also all the sports teams in North Texas.”
Meanwhile, the team is trying to turn a corner. After a rough patch, they demolished the Clippers by 30 on Friday. So, is this team ready to go on a run?
“I think we saw what can be in the last game,” Nelson said. “We`re excited and we can`t wait for the playoffs to start!”
Well, if Dallas does go on a deep post-season run, then, no doubt the fanaticos will go loco for Los Mavs.
