HARTFORD, CT — The SMU Mustangs are on their way to the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, after they dispatched Temple, 69-56. It’s the first time the team has played in a conference tournament championship since 1988.
The regular season champs trailed Temple early, falling behind 17-7 midway through the first half. But, they closed that gap to just two by halftime.
The Mustangs held Temple to an incredible 29.8% shooting night on their way to the victory.
Now, SMU advances to the final to take on Connecticut, Sunday at 2:15 PM.
The winner of that game is guaranteed a spot in the NCAA National Tournament.
