DFW AIRPORT - Folks at DFW did not get off to a flying start Thursday morning.
“We’re supposed to fly out at 8:55 to Anaheim this morning, but now we’re delayed until noon,” said delayed flyer Scott Hughes.
Wednesday night’s sleet and snow grounded nearly 400 flights out of DFW, making it the most delayed airport in the world Thursday. Folks were lined up nearly out the door trying to book another flight to get around this cold chaos.
Traveler Celeste Tapia told Newsfix, “We spent the night here in the cold, and we were just dreaming about Miami.” The Oklahoma native was headed back home from the Sunshine state.
Other folks, like Gursimran Singh of Frisco, was here to pick up his mom coming in from a flight from Dubai. He was surprised her flight wasn’t delayed as well. “Yeah, I was really surprised; I was thinking it was going to be delayed, but then I was thinking, 'What are they going to do, just stay up in the air?'" Singh said.
Hey, that's more than one Delta flight can say. The flight came in from Atlanta, skidded off the runway, and broke through a fence. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.
Meanwhile back at DFW, folks with the airport say timing is everything -- just give yourself plenty of time to get there. And for those who complain about the delays, stop your belly-aching. Your plane could’ve ended up on its belly!
