VALLEY RANCH, TX — The NFL off-season is in full swing, so you know what that means: time to pay up to keep your best stars in town.

This year, there are two big ones for the Cowboys: Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray — both free agents.

Well, it looks like the Boys have finally made their mind up on Dez. Reports are he’ll get the team’s franchise tag on Monday.

What’s a franchise tag? Well, basically it’s a way for a team to keep one player for one year at a set price; that means Dez will be walking away with about $13M  for 2015 which is a discount for what a long term contract would probably get him.

So, that probably won’t make Dez too happy, but this news won’t make a lot of fans happy: it looks like the Boys are going to let the league’s leading rusher test the free agent market.

Murray has made it very clear that he wants to stay a Cowboy.

“I’m proud of this team, proud of this organization,” Murray said back in January, “I wouldn’t want to go through it with any other group of men other than these guys in this locker room.”

But if somebody out there is willing to pay up you won’t blame DeMarco if he takes the money and runs.

Just hope you didn’t shell out too much for that authentic #29 jersey.
