DALLAS --  The Powerball jackpot is up to a whopping $500 million for Wednesday's drawing.

Hey, you'd think that's enough motivate to check those old tickets, but turns out, there are more than 300 missing Lotto millionaires; more than 300 prizes worth $1 million or more went unclaimed in 2013.

"Last year, I recall we had around $60,000,000 in unclaimed prizes.  We only had 1 large jackpot many years ago that was unclaimed," Gary Grief, Vice Chair of the Powerball Game Group said.

Just because you didn't hit it big doesn't mean you didn't hit it at all.

"You can win a million dollars on a second prize for a power ball game.  Dream about the jackpot, but know you can win all kinds of valuable prizes at various levels throughout the game," Grief added.

SHOW ME THE MONEY! What Your Chances Are of Winning

Ticket buyers say they see how millionaire mistakes could happen.

"There had been times where I actually win a little bit of money on the lottery, but I just take them home and put them in a pile and just really forget about them," shopper Orea Davis said.

"I normally put mine in my pocket and three days later.  I'll think about it, but at first, you forget about it," shopper James Turner mentioned.

Others aren`t taking any chances.

"They get checked on the computer. They do get checked. If you don't play, you can't win. So, you've got to play. I've got a shot," shopper Eugene Wimberly said.

Yep, one out of the thousands of tickets sold could make you a millionaire. Make sure it's not in your pocket or at the bottom of your purse.
