LOS ANGELES — Bill Cosby’s TV wife is coming to his defense.

Phylicia Rashad tells “Showbiz 411” the sexual assault accusations against Cosby¬†are a well-coordinated smear campaign.

“Forget these women. What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy,” she said. “And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture … Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV, and it’s worked. All his contracts have been canceled.”

At least 23 women have accused Bill Cosby of offenses ranging from groping to rape. He’s denied all allegations.

Rashad isn’t the only former Cosby cast member to stand by Dr. Huxtable’s side.

Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy, also shared her thoughts on the sexual allegations against her TV dad saying, “I wasn’t there. That’s just not the man I know. So I can’t speak to it.”

Will we ever know what really happened?

Guess one thing we’ve learned from all these Hollywood stars — the show must go on.
