ARLINGTON, TX - No one can ignore the drama that has played out nation-wide following two grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two African-American suspects.

From D.C. all the way to Dallas outrage and disbelief has triggered marches, protests, and staged die -in`s.

Online hash-tag battles such as  #icantbreathe and #blacklivesmatter  have been trending topics for weeks.

But, in light of all the negative attention surrounding the Eric garner and Mike brown cases; a group of mentors are teaching young minority men how to avoid becoming another statistic and another tragic story…

“You can`t impact the system, so change the system and by changing the system you have to change the mindset and mentality of our young men,” said event organizer Pastor Montreal Dukes.

SOB- Saving Our Black and Brown Boys has one mission in mind: mentoring and empowering today`s youth and starting them out on a positive track.

“There is an alternative,” added Dukes.  “What they may see in their neighborhoods, and what they may see in their families and communities, it’s good to know that there`s a different way ....a better way.”

It`s not just the past that matters when it comes to present issues.

A “better way” starts with our future.
