MESQUITE, TX - Wrestling royalty was on hand in Mesquite Saturday for the David Von Erich Yellow Rose of Texas Memorial Reunion.

Kevin Von Erich, the only surviving member of the original wrestling superstar family, was there to represent the family name.

“It’s great to be back in Texas,” said Kevin Von Erich. “Being in the Mesquite Rodeo Arena takes me back to so many good memories here in Texas and Von Erich country.”

Also at the event were Kevin’s sons --Ross and Marshall -- who look to continue the family business.

“Tonight, we’re here in honor of my Uncle David,” said Marshall. “We’re not here just for my Uncle David, we’re here to honor our entire Von Erich family, my grandfather and all my uncles.”

Thousands of fans were expected to show up for the event, showing the impact the Von Erich’s still have on Texas wrestling decades later.

“The Von Erichs are absolutely like rock stars here in Texas,” said Derek King the owner of the Coastal Wrestling Federation.

“The Von Erichs are absolutely iconic here in Texas. They’re hall of famers. People love the Von Erichs.”
