LANCASTER, TX - Prime Prep Academy's high school basketball season tipped-off Saturday night with its annual “midnight madness” celebration. The gym was packed with parents and supporters. Deion Sanders was even on hand, to cheer on the team.
“We’re excited, we’re elated, so many people in the community come out, the kids are dancing, the cheerleaders are cheering and these boys man, they’re a nationally ranked team and they’re getting ready to get down,” Sanders said.
Sanders and his school have taken a lot of shots lately -- budget concerns, academic inefficiencies, accusations of fraud, not to mention the fight to renew its charter with the state. But the Hall of Fame face of the school has nothing but praise for Prime Prep.
“Things are gong well," the former Dallas Cowboy said. “Kids are doing well, dual credits are unbelievable at Mountain View college, we’re just happy man, the kids are being educated, they’re happy, the parents are happy, we’re not in the news because so many things are going right and we’re thankful.”
Well, while the school`s game-plan off the court might still need work at least the kids are `primed` and `prepped` for a successful season on the court.
