WASHINGTON, DC — The armed White House intruder actually made it farther into the President’s home than initially reported, according to a shocking new report from the Washington Post.
Turns out, Omar Gonzalez, who was carrying a knife, jumped the fence, sprinted through the front door, ran past the stairway that leads to the Obama living area, all the way to the East Room before a counter-assault agent tackled him.
Secret Service officials previously reported Gonzalez was quickly detained at the main entry.
How was Gonzalez able to make it so deep into the White House, which is supposed to the be the most secure home in the nation?
According to The Post, “ An alarm box near the front entrance of the White House designed to alert guards to an intruder had been muted at what officers believed was a request of the usher’s office, said a Secret Service official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.”
The Secret Service refuses to comment on the new report.
