DENVER, CO -- Uber is often called a faster, convenient alternative to traditional cabs. It’s supposed to take the stress out of getting where you need to go. But, one Denver area woman is disputing that fact. She is furious with the online car service.
Tracy Reed says Uber charged her $443 for a ride from an Elton John Concert in Downtown Denver to her home in Parker, which located close to 21 miles away, on Saturday night.
Apparently, she didn’t know about Uber’s surge pricing structure. The increased rates are tacked on during times of high demand and the company is limited on the number of drivers.
Feeling bad for the miscommunication, Uber did credit Reed back some of the money -- $110, which is 25% on fare back to her home.
But, according to its website – Uber states every user is notified about any ‘surge pricing’ on its confirmation page.
