[UPDATE 9/26 @ 7:59PM] –  Suspect in University of Virginia student’s disappearance has been transported back to Virginia and booked into jail.

GALVESTON, TX —
He could run, but he couldn’t hide. The manhunt for the prime suspect in University of Virginia Hannah Graham’s disappearance ended on the beach in Galveston — some 1,400 miles away from where she was last seen.

Surveillance video taken from Crystal Beach convenience store, showing a man in a vehicle matching what Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr. was last driving, tipped Galveston County deputies to his whereabouts.

They later arrested Matthew camping on a Bolivar Peninsula beach.

Thursday morning, a judge ordered Matthew to be held without bond pending his extradition to Virginia.missing uva student

“You’re not entitled to a court appointed attorney on the fugitive from justice warrant except to fight extradition. Are you requesting a court appointed attorney for your fugitive from justice warrant out of Virginia?” The judge asked.

Matthew simply responded, “No.”

By waving his extradition, Virginia authorities are clear to take him back to face charges of abduction with the intent to defile Graham. The 18-year-old was last seen September 13 in Charlottesville after leaving a party alone.
