COLLEGE STATION — A 32-year-old woman drowned in a College Station creek after rescuing her dog from swift-moving water. Police say search teams found Turner’s body Saturday evening, about a quarter mile from where she first entered the water.

A witness at Lick Creek Park told Police Turner’s dog was struggling in the water; Turned stepped in and pushed her dog to safety before being swept away. The witness tried to help Turner but could not get her out of the water.

“She began to become overcome by the force and the level of the water in the swollen creek,” Lt. Chuck Fleeger said.
