Oscar Pistorius Is Tried For The Murder Of His Girlfriend Reeva SteenkampSOUTH AFRICA — Oscar Pistorius is now waiting to be sentenced in South Africa. The Olympic blade runner may have skated a murder charge, but he’s been found guilty of culpable homicide.

What does that even mean?

The judge ruled Pistorius, who’s been highly-emotional through the entire trial, unintentionally but unlawfully killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.

“We as a family remain deeply conflicted by the devastating tragedy event and it won’t bring Reeva back but our hearts still go out to her family and friends,” Uncle Arnold Pistorius said.

“There is still something missing,”  Reeva’s father, Barry Steenkamp told the Today Show. “I think there was more to the whole
story, you know, coming up to the actual shooting, the killing. I feel there is a lot more to it. I only wish that the true, true story will come out one day.”

Oscar Pistorius was also convicted of weapons-related charges stemming from a separate shooting incident at a restaurant.

The verdicts are not the end of the legal arguments. They’ll continue until October 13 during the sentencing phase of the case.

“It’s highly likely the sentence will rest well below 15 years,” said Kelly Phelps, CNN Legal Analyst.

It will ultimately be up to the judge to decide Pistorius’ fate. Until then, the blade runner remains out on bond.
