PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA — Not guilty?!  Really?

As far as we could see, Oscar Pistorius was guilty as a dog caught in a cookie jar, but a high court judge in South Africa says the blade runner is off the hook. Sort of.

“I am of the view that the accused acted too hastily and used excessive force. In the circumstances, it is clear that his conduct was negligent,” said Judge Thokozile Masipa in court on Thursday.

In other words, Pistorius did not intent to kill his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013, but seeing as she did die at his hand, some kind of punishment will proceed. It will be up to the judge to decide on that.

The Olympian still faces three weapons charges that carry a max sentence of 15 years behind bars.
