FORT WORTH — A 9-year-old boy has died and three other children are being treated following a house fire in Fort Worth.

The 9-year-old was being transported by CareFlite when he passed away. He has been identified as David Ramirez; he was pronounced dead at 12:59 pm, with the cause of death listed as inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide.

According to a tweet from the Fort Worth Fire Department, four children, all age 14 and under, were inside when the fire broke out at a home in the 6600 block of Rockdale Road. Neighbor’s say when they saw the flames they tried to knock out the windows to save the kids inside.

“I was leaving and I had seen that little boy, his brother was saying; I cant get him I cant get it.” said neighbor Janice Williams.

“A lot of smoke in there it was really hard to see, we made our search like we normally do. We got in there and found the child inside and got him out pretty quick.” said Randy Townley with the Fort Worth fire department.

The other three children are said to be conscious and alert.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but what we do know is this family will never be the same again.
