BASTROP, Texas–After weeks of talk, it’s time for Texas National Guard troops to head to the border.
“Your message and your mission is very clear, ” Perry said to about 100 troops preparing to leave from Camp Swift in Bastrop.
They’re among more than 2,200 troops who’ve volunteered for the operation.
He called up the troops at the height of the border children crisis. The number of kids crossing the border has dropped since then.
But Perry says the guard is still needed to help local cops deal with drug smugglers and traffickers.
“These are narco-terrorists, because they are terrorizing Americans,” Perry said.
Hey, guys. While you’re there, watch out for guys dressed as Osama bin Laden.
