Legendary leading lady Lauren Bacall has passed away at the age of 89.

The Humphrey Bogart Estate announced her death on its Facebook page, “With deep sorrow for the magnitude of our loss, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall.”

She passed away Tuesday at New York Presbyterian Hospital after reportedly having a stroke.

Bacall’s sultry presence first graced the Golden Age of Hollywood in 1944.  A year later, she famously married Humphrey Bogart.

They were together until his death in 1957.

Lauren Bacall is best known for her roles in The Big Sleep, Woman of the Year, and The Mirror Has Two Faces, which earned her an Oscar nomination.
