Girl Thrown From Car Laid to Rest, Driver May Face More Charges

FORT WORTH- It was standing room only at the George W Spencer funeral home as friends & family said good-bye to 12-year-old Octavia Marie Watkins on Tuesday.

Police in Crowley say Octavia and five other kids were swimming in the community pool when her mom Yasmin Robles and family friend Kisha Young came to pick them up. They apparently made them ride on the hood and trunk of the car because their swimsuits were still wet. The children were seriously injured and Octavia died as the result of blunt force trauma to her head. Her father says the family donated some of her organs before she was taken off life support.

“She enjoyed dancing and cheerleading, so she’s cheerleading for Christ right now, amen!” Pastor Mary Schultz told the mourners.

For now, Octavia’s mom, Yasmin Robles, has not been charged by Crowley police. As for Kisha Young, the mother who was driving, she was charged with intoxication assault to a child and DWI. Now that a child has died, things could get much worse in this already tragic situation.
