FORT WORTH – There’s a new sheriff in town – more like hundreds of them.

The National Sheriffs’ Association is having its annual conference and is showing off all its new cool crime fighting toys in Fort Worth.

This is probably one of the few conferences where guns are welcome.

So what is the topic of discussion? Immigration.

“We’re learning now how to combine law enforcement angles, with social services, to take care of the most vulnerable of the folks who are coming across the border,” Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Terry Grisham said.

“Especially the unattended children.”

However, that’s not all the sheriffs did.

They got their hands on some pretty nifty gadgets and guns.

But don’t worry; it’s all in the name of keeping the people safe.
