The race for the 2024 Summer Games stared with such promise, but no one ever said going for the gold was easy. Big D and its “golden” aspirations of hosting the Olympic games, fell short of the podium.

Dallas and San Diego never made it across the finish line. Both cities were officially cut from consideration on Friday.

Ok, so what gives? Could it be the Texas heat?!

North Texas has the venues covered: We have AT&T Stadium; the AAC; Cotton Bowl at Fair Park; and let’s not forget mass transportation.

In a statement, the United States Olympic Committee said in part:

“Dallas had a great bid and matching leadership, along with a well-established sporting community.”

The statement continued, “We have no doubt about the ability of Dallas to host the Olympic and Paralympic games, and look forward to working with them in the future to enhance the international awareness of the city.”

So, that’s it – “international awareness.” Wonder how you train for that?

Oh well, at least the city is still in the running to host the Republican National Convention.
