Fritz is a three-year-old Chihuahua mix. When he first showed up at the Dallas Animal Shelter, he really was on the “fritz.”

“He had double problems going against him,” says Leslie Sans, president of Dallas Pets Alive! “He had been exposed to sarcopic mange which is a very contagious mange. He also had what we call ‘cherry eyes.’ So he had two beads that look like cherries in both of his eyes.”

The count was 0-2 and it looked like Fritz might strike out. ,

“Nobody wanted to take him,” says Sans. “It took forever to get him a foster.”

But, Dallas Pets Alive gave Fritz what he needed; a little nip/tuck around  his eyes, and this pink-eyed pup was seeing clear.

“Now you can see, with a little surgery, completely and totally adorable, you would never know that he had cherry eyes,” says Sans.

Now, Fritz is running around like he’s the big dog on the block.

“He has small dogs and large dogs in his foster home right now so, he is great with either one,” says Sans. “He loves to play with big dogs. He thinks he is a big dog in a small dog body.”

Now all that this pup needs to hit a home run is to to find one adorable family to give him a “furr-ever” home.
