Southwest Airlines Employee Charged with Theft

Dallas – It’s lovely being around Southwest Airlines these days. Just as the Dallas-based airliner is trying to soar past a recent, $200,000 fine, levied by the U.S. Department of Transportation for deceptive practices, trouble reappears on the radar.

An employee is charged with stealing $203,000 in company gift cards. Dallas Police says Christopher Olivas, 43, turned himself in this week and confessed.

According to a blog on Southwest’s website, it named Olivas as one of its ‘Volunteers of Luv’ in 2012 for his charitable work in the community. But, what his co-workers didn’t know, he’s really no angel. Olivas was allegedly swindling Southwest Airlines out of trips for his family and friends.

By the way, his job at the airline was to investigate fraud.

Don’t you just love it?
