Woman Who Left Puppies Nursing Mother She Shot Was 'Agitated'PARKER COUNTY, Tx — Parker County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 44-year old Tammy Douglas and charged her with animal cruelty.

Investigators said she confessed to shooting and killing her four-year old Heeler-Shepherd mix, Aowa.  According to investigators, Douglas then left her dog’s life-less body in a cage, along with Aowa’s still-nursing litter of puppies. The dogs were found abandoned along Raley Road; the cage they were in was partially on the roadway.

During her interview, investigators noted Douglas said she owned the dog and shot her with a .9mm handgun. According to the department, Douglas “grew agitated” with her dog.

“To a normal, caring human, this is an incomprehensible act,” Sheriff Larry Fowler said in a statement.

“I can’t imagine what the suspect thought theses puppies did in order to warrant her actions. Animal cruelty can never be justified.”

The puppies were rescued and are now being treated at the Angels and Outlaws 2nd Chance Bully Ranch in Hico.

As for Douglas, she’s out of jail after posting a $3,000 bond.
