Why We Celebrate Memorial Day

For many, Memorial Day means barbecues, hanging out by the pool, and a long weekend.  Unfortunately, the historical importance of this national holiday often gets drowned out in all the festivities. But according to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, a combined 1.1 million American soldiers have lost their lives in wars throughout America’s history. Memorial Day is our time to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.
