Technology/Operations Manager


The Manager of Technology and Air Operations will take an active participatory role in operations and maintenance of current facilities as well as planning and executing technical advancements at KDAF.


Demonstrates experience in the design, construction and maintenance of broadcast and IT infrastructure
Demonstrates experience in the design, construction and maintenance of over the air and satellite RF plants
Understanding of current FCC Rules & Regulations performs duties related to Chief Operator
Excellent customer service and trouble shooting skills
Computer capable and accomplished user of Microsoft Office suite, and AutoCAD & Visio software
Demonstrates project management experience
Highly self-motivated with demonstrated attention to detail

This position will report directly to the Director of Technology and On-Air Operations


Supervision of the Operation and Maintenance Engineering technical teams
Supervise Maintenance and proper operation of the extensive broadcast facilities and Remote Sites
Supervise Maintenance and proper operation of the over the air transmissions, Live trucks and SNG truck
Strong understanding of broadcast video HD & SD video formats
Good working knowledge of networking, Cisco IOS, various client and server operating systems (both closed and open source) required
Ability to manage, maintain and operate all compression technology in use on the broadcast network & systems for various video file formats, including Mpeg2 & Mpeg4 video
Be proactive in the monitoring of all network transport streams for errors; be able to investigate and provide solutions for network issues
Be able to identify and document trends in service affecting outages
Must have database management skills with the ability to interface or link to broadcast systems applications
Must have experience with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP and MySQL
Ability to create applications to enhance the station’s broadcast operation capability for broadcast, web and mobile
Must have a command of computer repair, maintenance and troubleshooting
Will be responsible for meeting appropriate staffing requirements within available manpower budgets
Handle engineering shift scheduling when or as needed
Will be responsible for assisting in capital & expense budgets spending and planning
Well versed in all areas of News and Production Operations

Additional Core Competencies:

Operation and maintenance of the station’s broadcast system local area network (LAN). This includes master control automation, video servers, and RAID storage systems in addition to engineering desktops, database servers, cabling, hubs, switches, bridges and routers.  A thorough understanding of LAN/WAN integration, TCP/IP, switching and routing is essential.  Additionally, this person will serve as back-up to the duties associated with the System Administrator and/or Computer Technician.

Business Development Specialist


The Business Development Specialist is responsible for achieving set revenue goals by closing new and developmental revenue on all our platforms including KDAF-TV, Antenna-TV, This-TV, and CW33.com. This position will report to the Local Sales Manager.

CW33 Street Team Rep – Part Time


Are you a passionate, hardcore fan of The CW and CW33? If so, the CW33 Street Team might just be the most fun job you’ll ever have.

KDAF-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth’s CW, seeks outgoing, energetic, self-motivated individuals with excellent communication and people skills to join the station’s promotional Street Team. As part time employees of KDAF-TV, Street Team members will be marketing representatives for CW33 at community events, setting up the station’s event booth, interacting with attendees, supervising and executing station games, contests, and giveaways, shooting photos/videos and doing other promotional tasks. The CW33 Street Team duties also include promoting CW33 and its shows online, utilizing the station’s various digital and social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others). Street Team digital duties will include email blasts, online posts, chats, blogging about the station’s programs, assisting in event coordination, and prizing fulfillment.


Applicants must be 18 years or older and legal residents of Texas with a valid driver’s license. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation to travel to and from events. Applicants must be in good physical condition and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Applicants must be computer/technology savvy with a working knowledge of digital technology (including, but not limited to, social media and creating/posting content online). Applicants must have a very strong knowledge about programming that airs on CW33, such as The CW Prime shows, news programming, and syndicated shows.


If applicants are selected for a personal interview at the studios of CW33, KDAF-TV, an employment application, consumer disclosure form, and liablity/publicity release from must be completed at that time for further consideration of employment. Background searches will be done on all Street Team finalists.

Job candidates hired as members of the CW33 Street Team will be part time employees of the Station. As such, they will be paid on an hourly basis for the scheduled work assigned to them. But as part time employees and members of the CW33 Street Team, CW33 has rights to use their name, recorded likeness/voice or biographical material on-air or online to promote, advertise, or publicize Station without additional financial compensation beyond the stated hourly salary. Continued employment as Street Team members will be subject to the terms and guidelines described in the station Policy and Procedure Manual.

EyeOpener has an opening for a Preditor/MMJ to work in our Dallas, TX location. The MMJ must have an engaging on-air personality and the ability to make the audience feel, learn and want to come back for more. This position will contribute to the content gathering of information for EyeOpener, station websites and social media. The candidate must have experience in operating SNG trucks, backpack units (like Dejero) and be able to quickly learn to operate emerging live technology.

EyeOpener, an innovative Tribune Media syndicated morning show, is looking for an experienced Show Producer to handle one our three live hours.

We need a creative producer who is willing and able to approach the show much differently. On most days your lead will not come from the traditional headlines or the top story on the feeds. You must be willing to analyze social media and online metrics and find the best ongoing conversations for the broadcast. You must be able to find interesting water-cooler stories, compelling slice of life stories, and the newest viral video. You will also have a wide range of original material and segments to round out your show. The product must be edgy, unconventional and give morning viewers a reason to stop what they’re doing and get involved with the show. The most important things you can bring to this position are creativity, courage and a determination to do something very different, without apologizing for it. As in any producer position, it also means being a creative writer, creating desktop graphics, choosing video and working closely with the production staff. You will also contribute material to the websites and pages, and work with the social media producers to encourage online conversations.

This is not a typical newscast. You must have a real interest and appreciation for hot topics, trends in music and pop culture and a keen interest in the things people are talking about online every day. Your writing must be upbeat, conversational, and edgy. If you want to produce a network nightly newscast or wildlife documentaries, this is not the job for you. Our show is “Wow,” not “Oh no.”

This is a permanent overnight position. You must be a self-starter and independent thinker. You must be able to produce a lot of interesting material under tight deadlines every day, with little hand-holding. You must love working with a diverse and offbeat staff who like putting square pegs in round holes.



Applicants must have solid newsroom & digital technology experience, but you must also be smart, clever, creative and have an edgy sense of humor. You must be able to produce lots of material every day.

We need your resume and an interesting letter telling us about yourself. We need to know what you have done in the past and for whom. You must include links to shows, sites, pages or blogs. Applications that don’t include these things will not be considered. Period. We love people who want to do new things and take chances. BUT, if you haven’t worked in a broadcast television environment before, this is not the place to start.


Candidates must know more than news. Comfort with trends, pop culture and social media’s effect on what we talk about are critical. You must know how to create and structure segments that are unscripted, and based solely on talking points. You will work with a variety of proprietary Tribune newsroom tools, so knowledge of newsroom computer systems, graphic systems and 21st century editing systems is mandatory. You must be detail oriented, tech savvy and able to make fast changes when the situation demands it. You must be able to inspire others, foster trust and believe that thinking differently is the most important part of the job. Candidates must understand and appreciate the demands of a live show and popular websites and feed the beast every day.

Experience working on live newscasts is vital.

This is not your standard newsroom position. It is an unusual job in a unique environment.

Associate Producer – Full Time

KDAF-TV, the Tribune Media station in Dallas, seeks a full time Associate Producer for nightly newscasts.


You must have two years of experience in a television newsroom. You must have experience writing for a newscast and producing a newscast.

Position requires a flexible schedule which may include day, night, and weekend shifts.

Primary duties include helping the primary show producer with preparing, producing, writing, and crafting content for NewsFix, a fast-paced anchorless newscast.
This person must be a strong writer, storyteller, and have an understanding of news production software such as ENPS or iNews.
The AP will help build and execute news rundowns for multiple newscasts, live shots, showcase stories, creatively use graphics and maximize production techniques. VizRT experience a plus.
You will write packages for the newscast and be responsible for one or more franchise segments.
You will be asked to fill in as a newscast producer.
