A wide range of conservative party leaders and groups are coming to the defense of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, including Texas Senator John Cornyn.
"I think the best thing that could happen is that the President and the Attorney General sit down and work this out between themselves," Cornyn said. "Jeff Sessions did what I think any ethical attorney general would do under these circumstances and I think they need to work it out."
The president has attacked Sessions and questioned the reason he backed him, citing his campaign crowds.
Many other republicans have defended Sessions as uncertainty over his fate continues.
