DALLAS - A long term fix for trouble with the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System was reached last minute at the capitol.

A Senate committee approved a bill that will keep the pension system solvent for as long as 46 years.

Without it, the fund will go broke in ten.

The plan still needs to be approved by the full Texas Senate and House.

Leaders from both chambers have spoken in favor of it.
