Expert: 9 Ways to Not Get Sick This Winter

It’s flu and cold season, and it seems like everyone knows someone who’s dealing with some sort of sickness right now.

Wash Your Hands
Listen to what your mamma told you. Use soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to wash your hands throughout the day—especially when you’re out holiday shopping or at Christmas parties.

Stop Touching Your Face
Did you know we touch our faces about 2,000 times a day? Stop it!  Keep your hands below your neck.

Eat Right
Increase your antioxidents by eating more fruits and vegetables.

Sleep
Get 8 hours of sleep a night.  Yes, we said 8 hours!

Get Your Flu Vaccine
It’s not too late to get your flu vaccine. Dr. Pinckney says it has been very effective this year.

Start Using A Neti Pot
You might as well bite the bullet and get one of these. They’re great for sinus problems. And, trust me, it’s not as bad as it looks. In fact, it’s quite refreshing!

Take Cough Syrup
Stop spreading your nasty germs by coughing. Dr. Pinckney likes the active ingredients in Mucinex and Robitussin for keeping your coughs at bay.

Stay Home
If you have a fever (100.4 degrees or more), stay home! You’re contagious and you’ll get the whole office sick.

Exercise
Yep. You may not feel like it, but some light exercise when you’re feeling sick can help boost your immune system. Who knew?! Don't do this if you're having trouble breathing, or if you have a fever.
