It's been a whirlwind 24 hours for residents in Corpus Christi.

The city sent out an alert late Wednesday telling residents to avoid tap water at all costs because of a major water contamination. They said even boiling wouldn't make it safe to drink.

That sparked a run on water bottles and corpus christi had to call in help.

100-thousand cases of water was on its way by Thursday.

Early this morning though Corpus Christi said certain parts of the city could start using tap water again.

City officials also identified the contaminate -- an asphalt chemical.

3 to 24 gallons of it possibly spilled after an incident in the Corpus Christi industrial district.
