Odessa Tow Truck Driver Finds Toddler in Car Hours After Crash

ODESSA -- Officials in West Texas are trying to figure out how first responders missed a toddler in the back of a crashed car.

Daniela Flores was thrown to the SUV's floorboard during a crash. Three different agencies responded to the scene but somehow, none of them noticed the little girl.

She was later found by the towing company that took the car to a junkyard.

"The supervisor on the scene actually has done a walk around the vehicle, looking inside, saw the car seat. He reached inside and got hold of the car seat to look inside to make sure there was no one in there -- and there wasn't," Odessa Fire Rescue Chief Roger Boyd said.

Flores' mother left Daniela with a friend, who then left the little girl with another man; she was riding in the SUV with the man when it crashed. The man told police there were no other passengers in the car, according to KWES.

Daniela was taken to a hospital but has since been released.
