DALLAS – Most sports bars and eateries around the metroplex are filled with Cowboys memorabilia, but no matter how well their season is going – that's something you just won't find at Blatt Beer & Table in Dallas.
"Blatt is short for Rosenblatt, which if any of you are College World Series fans or College Baseball fans, that was our stadium,” John Hill told NewsFix. Hill is the Executive Chef of Blatt Beer & Table.
Blatt Beer & Table, which is based out of Omaha, Nebraska, just recently built their first out of state spot right here in Big D.
And Chef Hill is still getting adjusted.
"I just moved here two months ago,” Hill said. “So I'm brand new."
And he's bringing a brand new take on some of our favorites bar eats, with a German twist.
"Well there's a huge German population in Omaha, very big,” Hill told Newsfix. “That was one of the early immigrant groups."
That's why they're serving up items like the sausage on a stick – which includes a beer-braised brat and a jalapeno polish sausage. The pretzel bites, served with German rosemary mustard. Even a root burger, because vegans need love, too.
Chew on This: Blatt is serving up the Down South Pork, a twist on the classic chicken and waffles. It’s a jalapeno cornbread waffle, topped with pulled pork, BBQ sauce and served with a side of potato salad.
Delicious and Texas-approved.
So for those of you looking for a spot to watch the Cowboys, this could be it.
"We've been amazed by how much traffic we've been getting just from football fans alone,” Hill said. "You come in, we usually have a super relaxed environment hang out, drink some beers."
Brats, beers, and Dem Boys??? That sounds like a winning combination!
